Returning students who have had an Ethernet connection registered before, may automatically be assigned a Internet connection in their new room. Check your PSU email to get the assigned jack you need to plug into. Some Commonwealth campuses or Housing apartment buildings may not be automatically registered for returning students. Go to the Internet Connection Setup section and follow the returning student links.

If you have a new computer with a different card since you were last connected, you need to go to the on-line Ethernet registration page and perform a disconnect of your current connection. Once that is done, go back and perform a "new" connection and type in the correct information. Otherwise your connection will not work. Students can have only one connection registered at a time. If something changes the current connection must be disconnected first then the student can register for a new connection using the correct information.

Secure Your Computer
With new viruses discovered daily, and hackers getting smarter and smarter, you have to to be ready for them by protecting your computer. We have a short guide that will help you protect your data and your computer from hackers, viruses, and other online threats.

Viruses
Several hundred viruses infect thousands of users on Penn State’s network each year. Because of this, it is important that you have virus protection software and update it often. Norton Corporate Edition Anti-Virus and other free software can be found on the ITS provided and maintained ITS downloads web page. This software is available for free to Penn State students, faculty, and staff.

Job Opportunities
ResCom is always looking for talented staff for part-time work as student technicians and managers. Hiring generally occurs after spring break, but there are opportunities for qualified students to be hired year-round depending on job openings. Go to this link for details.
