Configuring Symantec Antivirus Corporate Edition

Use this guide to properly configure Symantec Antivirus Corporate Edition to protect your computer from any current viruses and future threats.  It can be downloaded from https://downloadsym.cac.psu.edu

1. Open Symantec Antivirus Client by clicking on Start, going to "Symantec Client Security", and clicking on "Symantec Antivirus Client." This will open the main window for the antivirus program.  In this window, double click on Configure and then click on "File System Realtime Protection."

2. Select "Delete Infected File" under Option 2: If action fails.  Click on the "non-macro virus" tab and do the same.  Click on "Advanced."

3. Click the circle next to "Modified" instead of "Accessed or Modified". Click OK twice.

4. Click File, and select LiveUpdate. Check "Enable scheduled automatic updates", then click schedule. Set frequency to daily and choose a time. Click OK.                 

5. Click on the plus sign next to scheduled scans.  Select "New Scheduled Scan" and give the scan a name. Click on next.

6. Set Frequency to weekly and choose a time and date for the scan to run. Click on the next button.

7. Make sure there is a check and a plus in the box next to any hard drives in your computer. Click on the "Save" button.
