Important News about Increased Internet Capacity and Limits for Residence Hall Students
Revised 03/12/08
Effective on March 16, Housing and Food Services and Information Technology Services will be entering into a trial for the remainder of spring semester that will result in an increase in residence hall bandwidth, providing increased capacity for all resident students and increased individual weekly upload and download limits for individuals. The changes are outlined below:
NEWS BREAK:
These changes are part of a plan by Housing & Food Services and Information Technology Services in response to student requests, from individuals and student government groups, for a higher level of Internet service for residence hall students.
Students are reminded to use the new capabilities responsibly and to abide by all laws and applicable University policy. A useful web site to remind yourself of your responsibilities as a Penn State student and citizen can be found at http://its.psu.edu/policies/copyright.html. The performance of the new level of service will be monitored and evaluated over the remainder of spring semester. The analysis of this data will assist us in determining capacity and upload and download limits for next year. We are pleased to be able to offer this trial period for the remainder of Spring Semester and trust you will find it to be an improvement. Should you have any questions about the changes, please contact the staff in your local ResCom office (for University Park) or your local campus housing offices (for other residential campuses).
Thank you.
